SLAY Radio Gathering 2010
It's Almost Here!
NEWS 2010-07-28: SATURDAY EVENT CHANGED (See below for more info)
We're within the last week before the Gathering now, so here is the information you need.
First off, we would like to tell you about the SLAY Radio Hotline which is a cellphone
that we have set up especially for the Gathering. Please note that it should only
be used in an emergency though - when you want to find where everyone is, or you have lost
your way. Please try and access this page first though, as the information is more precise and
having the Google Map below is better than any description than we could give you!
SLAY Radio Hotline: +46 (0)738 946 449
The line will be switched on from Friday evening through to Saturday night only. Either Slaygon, Boz or
one of the staff will be holding the phone at any given time.
So, if you do need to get some information quickly and can't get onto the web site, give us a call and we'll try
and help you out!
Here's a map of the surroundings, with hot spots nailed to the map:
ITINERARY HAS CHANGED: Due to bad weather being predicted for Saturday daytime, the entire event will
now take place at Kville Biljard. (Believe us... we checked six online weather services and two TV weather reports!)
Friday July 30:
The "Unofficially Official Pre-Gathering Gathering", held at the biljard in the main area. Usually in the patio area
if the weather is warm enough, or just the main table area.
Saturday July 31 from 12:00 (CHANGED):
The event officially kicks off in the main area of Kville Biljard. Food will be available to order from
13:00 onwards and we can carry on our chats, have some food and get ready for the evening event.
Saturday July 31 from 18:00:
The private area opens up and the evening session begins. Commodore 64 remixes and a real Commodore 64 to play games
on!
For those of you still interested in coming last-minute, here is some more information on how to get here and where to stay.
Note, however, that accomodation is now extremely difficult because of it being tourist season.
ACCOMODATION:
If you need somewhere to stay, here's our recommendations:
- Kville Hotel, which is at Kvilletorget, 50 meters
away from the Biljard and 200 meters away from Keillers Park, and also the cheapest option. Talk amongst yourselves and try to share rooms for even cheaper options!
Other places to look for accommodation include:
- hotels/hostels in Gothenburg (booking.com)
- Even more (gtahotels.com)
- ...and more (goscandinavia.about.com)
GETTING THERE:
Gothenburg has two airports; Gothenburg City Airport (at Säve) is the nearest and is host to Ryanair, the cheap airline, so that is your best option if you can use
it. Bus and rail are, of course, also good options if you live in mainland Europe. Here are some useful links and options for you:
- Ryanair
Ryanair service London Stansted, Glasgow, Dublin and Frankfurt airports from their City Airport in Säve, just outside Gothenburg. There are regular buses from the
airport to Gothenburg's Central Station (from which there is a 10 minute tram ride to Kville); or there is a fixed-price for taxi journeys from the airport to
Kvilletorget (300 SEK; 32 EUR).
- SAS
SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) have regular flights to Landvetter, Gotheburg's International Airport. SAS are, obvioulsly, more expensive than RyanAir but you will get
more options. Like City Airport, there are regular buses from Landvetter to Central Station, and a fixed-price taxi ride to Kvilletorget.
- www.sj.se (in English)
SJ run the trains into Gothenburg Central Station, and is an alternative option for those of you in Sweden, Denmark or other serviced areas.
- SweBus Express
SweBus Express also run a number of buses in Sweden, Denmark and Norway (with links to Germany from Copenhagen), into Gotheburg's Nils Ericsson terminal (just next to
the Central Station).
GETTING FROM CENTRAL STATION (NILS ERICSSON TERMINAL) TO KVILLE:
There is a tram service just across the road from the front of centralstationen called "Nordstaden". Just get on the Route 6 tram (heading towards Länsmangården) and
travel three stops (the first taking you over the bridge) to Vågmästareplatsen. You will see the "KVILLETORGET" sign from the tram stop.
Also, there is the option to take bus number 17, heading towards Tuve, from the same stop. Again, Vågmästareplatsen is the stop you should get off at.
HERE'S A LITTLE ROUTE MAP TO TAKE YOU TO KVILLE BY TRAM:
