| STIL comment | This is the very first published tune on the C64 that used samples. "Q: How did you get involved with using sampled sounds? MG: I figured out how samples were played by hacking into someone else's code... OK, I admit it... It was a drum synthesizer package called Digidrums, actually, so you could still say I was the first to include samples in a piece of music. [...] Never would I claim to have invented that technique, I just got it published first. In fact, I couldn't really figure out where they got the sample data, just that they were wiggling the volume register, so I tried to make up my own drum sample sounds in realtime - which is the flatulence stuff that shipped in 'Arkanoid'. [...] After the project was in the shops I gained access to some real drum samples, and I slid those into my own custom version of the tune. The one that's in the shops is kind of a collage of farts & burps, don't you think? [...] Later I was able to acquire some proper drum samples and by 'Game Over' it got quite sophisticated." (MG) |

omoroca:
Extravagant arrangement. Not bad, but I hate the sax lead.
vosla:
It has interesting moments but otherwise it's like nothing is really finished.
Waz:
Maybe a bit repetitive, but the method of mixing the Galway tune is something different, sort of early Frank Zappa (especially with the saxophone). Neat idea, this one, even if the execution isn't always there.
Satanarchist:
I didnt rate it bad coz the saxophone made me laugh, which qualifies this as entertainment.
load_error:
Mmmm, sorry doesnt work for me neither, it's repetitive, and sometimes cacophonous…
romeo_knight:
That does not work for me. The bad sax sample annoys me.
mfe:
Fragments of good ideas filled out with a lot of mediocrity and repetition.
snorski:
Just missed the mark…
LMan:
I usually love experimental stuff, but this doesn't work, and the sax sound is *very* annoying.
LaLa:
You know, funny thing, ha-ha: kaki actually means poo in Hungarian, which also happens to describe this weird cacophony of sounds that pretends to be a remix. BTW, since when is Zyron the composer of Arkanoid???
exocytosis:
In one short adjective: this cover is foul!
eliot:
Outch… Please mercy…
devilhood:
Couldn't really force myself to listen past 0:30
anaconda:
Instruments doesn't mix, the drums doesn't work, the sax tops it all while the song is off key.
