| STIL comment | This is the very first published tune on the C64 that used samples. "Q: How did you get involved with using sampled sounds? MG: I figured out how samples were played by hacking into someone else's code... OK, I admit it... It was a drum synthesizer package called Digidrums, actually, so you could still say I was the first to include samples in a piece of music. [...] Never would I claim to have invented that technique, I just got it published first. In fact, I couldn't really figure out where they got the sample data, just that they were wiggling the volume register, so I tried to make up my own drum sample sounds in realtime - which is the flatulence stuff that shipped in 'Arkanoid'. [...] After the project was in the shops I gained access to some real drum samples, and I slid those into my own custom version of the tune. The one that's in the shops is kind of a collage of farts & burps, don't you think? [...] Later I was able to acquire some proper drum samples and by 'Game Over' it got quite sophisticated." (MG) |

omoroca:
Great version! I love Arkanoid remixes, and this one is definitely one of the greatest and most innovative. I like the way it's exaggeratedly electronic. Great work! Added to my collection.
load_error:
Drum patterns are excellent, as the zillion of effects used. I feel only too much reverb in some parts and some choice of sounds not the best, but I like it.
westerling:
Remix indeed! The original is hard to spot. Smart, minimalistic use of the themes.
Makke:
Have to give very good for inovative thinking. Production could use some more tweaking, but it still enjoy this one a lot!
anaconda:
If a real Arkanoid sequel was made in 2005, this would be the title-tune.
eliot:
Despite some lacks… Very innovative and besides mainstream… The orange is well earned 😀
c64glen:
Despite the very 'raw' nature of the track, it's too original not to love.
romeo_knight:
Good mixing, but too less Arkanoid for my taste. Just totally different harmonies.
Tas:
Excellent idea though the implementation isn't upto the idea of the thought. But you know this is very good and could have been so much more.
Waz:
Much better than his previous attempt at Arkanoid - nice attempt to go more Industrial in times, and on the whole it works, even if occasionally things get a little too crowded.
hazel:
Well… Don't know what to think about this one. It's got good and bad elements… I really don't like that whinning lead… But those drums… Give 'em to me now…😊
LaLa:
Not bad, not bad, but it doesn't really do it for me. Quite an original style, but maybe lacking in the implementation department.
Skitz:
Kinda like this one - not your typical Arkanoid remix, very original. The EQ just needs tweaking (too many ooo-ya-buggah's in there)
neglesaks:
Not impressive, really. Deviates too much from the original.
Dan:
Nice and original but it seems that at times things go out of sync
infamous:
Its a shame, this could have been something special, but timing issues totally ruin things… It goes out of sync more than it should… Such a great idea wasted on poor production and the mastering is worse than something I could have done lol…
nettuno:
Groan… I hate arkanoid, please try with another one 😉
