| STIL comment | This is the very first published tune on the C64 that used samples. "Q: How did you get involved with using sampled sounds? MG: I figured out how samples were played by hacking into someone else's code... OK, I admit it... It was a drum synthesizer package called Digidrums, actually, so you could still say I was the first to include samples in a piece of music. [...] Never would I claim to have invented that technique, I just got it published first. In fact, I couldn't really figure out where they got the sample data, just that they were wiggling the volume register, so I tried to make up my own drum sample sounds in realtime - which is the flatulence stuff that shipped in 'Arkanoid'. [...] After the project was in the shops I gained access to some real drum samples, and I slid those into my own custom version of the tune. The one that's in the shops is kind of a collage of farts & burps, don't you think? [...] Later I was able to acquire some proper drum samples and by 'Game Over' it got quite sophisticated." (MG) |

japster:
A good attempt at a much-remixed track - might be interesting to see if he takes some of these suggestions on board, and comes back with a new version of this, as it's almost there - It's also in tune, which is better than *some* remixes I've heard! Lol!
Amok:
I have to agree with nicodaemus
nicodaemus:
Seems to be something new and different, but lacks the finesse to use its full potential. Definitly not worse than a yellow, although some parts could do with a little EQ tweaking.
Scyphe:
This was an okay version. Low key (as is the mix, a little too low key).
prowler:
Very interesting stuff. I would like to give the beginning of your remix a BIG red face, the rest of the mix a yellow face and finally a green face for the mastering.
anaconda:
Very similar to another remake here, but not as good.
LaLa:
A few interesting ideas, needs better mastering, sounds unfinished.
c64glen:
I don't get these minimal mixes.
Ic3m4n:
Nice intro - dont like the instrument wich plays the melody - all-in-all a little boring
vurtx:
Its OK but to remix this you are entering a very high standard of remix history as its been done to death, so it doesnt quite make the grade, and the bar is HIGH for old arkanoid.
