| STIL comment | This is the very first published tune on the C64 that used samples. "Q: How did you get involved with using sampled sounds? MG: I figured out how samples were played by hacking into someone else's code... OK, I admit it... It was a drum synthesizer package called Digidrums, actually, so you could still say I was the first to include samples in a piece of music. [...] Never would I claim to have invented that technique, I just got it published first. In fact, I couldn't really figure out where they got the sample data, just that they were wiggling the volume register, so I tried to make up my own drum sample sounds in realtime - which is the flatulence stuff that shipped in 'Arkanoid'. [...] After the project was in the shops I gained access to some real drum samples, and I slid those into my own custom version of the tune. The one that's in the shops is kind of a collage of farts & burps, don't you think? [...] Later I was able to acquire some proper drum samples and by 'Game Over' it got quite sophisticated." (MG) |

WarrenMill:
Very good job. If the drums could get a little dirtier to the sound, they would mix better into the rock feeling. They sounda bit too clean and artifical. Great work anyway!
auFX:
Yeah, you will rock us. Keep on headbanging.
maindrian:
I do absolutely love your twin guitar harmonics, they sound gorgeous. If I had any problem with this at all, it's that it does seem a little muddy at the start. The guitars cutting out is abrupt too, but the drums are much improved. Fantastic.
LaLa:
Rock on! Great rock band remix.
megaturrican:
Nice! With good retro feeling.
Scyphe:
Faithful yet powerful.😊
bitmage:
Nice, but its a bit too
prowler:
Great rock sound! But as said above, I miss something…
germantaz:
Another remix. Technically good, but I find no hook. Sorry.
Nebdar:
The background music is to silent not so clear to hear, the guitars are great but the lack of support like them and the whole other where two different tracks. I just can't hear and feel the main thought of this remix
anaconda:
The mixing is really bad at the second half. It's quite powerful, but it lacks control and soul.
romeo_knight:
This misses the essence of Arkanoid: Those exceptional special chords, and you're playing power chords throughout the whole song. Drum programming sounds artificial for me.
