| STIL comment | "Once I had finished on 'Roland's Rat Race', which took a month, [Ocean] agreed to suspend my tasks as a programmer and my employment as game sound guy began." (MG) "[...] the sounds are a bit poor. I didn't develop pulse-width modulation until the next project, which at the time was called 'Cyclone'. It later came out as 'Helicopter Jagd'. On 'Roland's Rat Race' I guess you could say I was still mastering the C64. It was January/February 1985, my first project on staff at Ocean (I had done quite a few before that as a freelancer but they weren't comfortable employing someone SOLELY TO DO MUSIC... those were the days!)." hillsman:
Actually - I think this is brilliant. I was enjoying the intro, then the melody kicked in and I was like 'Oh! Roland's Rat Race! '. Great remix Rat District.
LiMuo:
Yes, this is Rolands Ratrace Maxi Version! I like it!
Major Sludgebucket:
Probably this has not so much to do with Martin Galway but who cares when a tune makes you feel like a sort of Tony Manero of the Eighties (?).: D
fluke73:
Great feeling of the song! Love the long intro!
wobbler:
Sweet retrowave version of a tune that I actually never have listened to before (although being aware of the game title).
LMan:
Doesn't really sound like 80s disco, but I like it very much!!
bgmnt:
Difficult. Nice sounds and very 80s, indeed, but too mediocre somehow. Good tune, anyway!.
N.o S.kill P.erformance:
I wasn't familiar with the original tune (now I am), but it's a nice peace of work you've done. Nice Beat and well mastered but it's a little too long for the lack of changes in the last minutes. That's a problem my own tracks have too (often)…
kwed:
Remember 12 inch maxi-singles? This does a similar thing by taking the original tune and taking absolutely forever to get started on it. When it does kick in it's good, though.
Chris Abbott:
I got two minutes into this with no sign of the actual tune. I loathe when tunes remix things so much that there's nothing of the original left.
