| STIL comment | This is the very first published tune on the C64 that used samples. "Q: How did you get involved with using sampled sounds? MG: I figured out how samples were played by hacking into someone else's code... OK, I admit it... It was a drum synthesizer package called Digidrums, actually, so you could still say I was the first to include samples in a piece of music. [...] Never would I claim to have invented that technique, I just got it published first. In fact, I couldn't really figure out where they got the sample data, just that they were wiggling the volume register, so I tried to make up my own drum sample sounds in realtime - which is the flatulence stuff that shipped in 'Arkanoid'. [...] After the project was in the shops I gained access to some real drum samples, and I slid those into my own custom version of the tune. The one that's in the shops is kind of a collage of farts & burps, don't you think? [...] Later I was able to acquire some proper drum samples and by 'Game Over' it got quite sophisticated." (MG) |

Its probably wrong to like this, but I can hear the potential from the artist and dont think he deserves too much stick… Keep at it, push out the soundscape a little more, put a little more effort into the drumwork and you'll be seeing oranges and reds
Razmo:
It's not that bad… Repetitive, yes, but so is unzy music. You should have made a lot more dynamic in the arrangement though.
nicodaemus:
Considering the tune, it's a very nice remix. Repetitive to the limit, but it has got a nice club feeling to it.
pezz:
Good idea, but dude - the high score tune isn't what defined Arkanoid on the C64… And it's pretty boring…
LMan:
Would prolly work in a club. Not that enjoyable for everyday listening though, too repetitive, too little surprises.
eliot:
Nah, does not work.
prowler:
Ok rave-floor stuff I guess, but too much a violation of the wonderful Arkanoid-tune…
klosterkatten:
Repetetetetetive.
Dan:
Exceptionally repetitive and boring beats
Waz:
Straightforward unzy mix of the high score theme that's just way too repetitive, no matter how good the instruments are, it's just a bit dull. I'd suggest picking a tune you can do more with really. Just not this one.
Makke:
Not a good SID to drag on for four minutes. The sounds are alright, although the drums are just boring me to tears! Same beat, minimal change, through the whole tune. Lack of panning makes the arrangement very narrow. Try a different SID next time.
fatal_error:
Sorry sounds like rave chavs listen to rave *im gonna throw up*
