| STIL comment | "There is an interesting story behind Commando. I went down to their office and started working on it late at night, and worked on it through the night. I took one listen to the original arcade version and started working on the C64 version. I think they wanted some resemblance to the arcade version, but I just did what I wanted to do. By the time everyone arrived at 8.00am in the morning, I had loaded the main tune on every C64 in the building! I got my cheque and was on a train home by 10.00 am..." (RH) |

L0rd3vyL:
One of my favourite Commando remixes
raj:
Fantastic, creative
rotteroy:
This. Is. The. BEST. Remix. I. Have. Ever. Heard.
rico:
Amazing…
Fozzee69:
This is the best remix so far! Sounds like so many different film scores including James bond, Leon the professtional and many more! Love it!
Totta:
Someone's been listening to the Soundtrack from The Rock by Hans Zimmer. Extremely well done! You should send this to Zimmer.
cyphax:
Wow, technically outstanding. Sounds wonderful, I definitely hope to hear more remixes like this.
Andersson:
I would sell my firstborn to see a live version of this 😃
Flyingsaucer:
I like it so much wonderful old time.
red_devil:
Yes! This is good stuff! Badly influenced by Hans Zimmer (Gladiator & The Rock) but that is not a bad thing. Perfect arranged!
Twinbee:
Wow, Just wow…
xgener8or:
If Commando was made into a film by Jerry Bruckheimer, this would be the main title 😊 Hans Zimmer style, never thought this old dog could be remixed in a Zimmer-style so well 😊
NecroPolo:
Although I like IK+ remix better and orchestra is not for me, objectively, I admit that this is excellence itself and a perfect nominee for the all-times #1. BTW, greetings to Suckho 😉 Eftos: you must be kidding…
inqisit0r:
Stuff it. Ill give it an outstanding. What makes it good seriously outweighs its imperfections. (eg, the transition to guitar at 3:16 is great. But thats the end of the track. The rest after 4:29 is just following the rules with a lacking end section)
Lewrax:
Fascinating…
Dumper:
Eftos, at least he doesn't copy other peoples tunes like you do. Great Remix.
mfe:
There's perhaps just a couple of samples that are just a bit flat and lifeless, but given the brilliance of the rest of the mix, how can this not get a red face? Bravo!
Patosz:
Keep it going!
fnordpojk:
Astoundingly massive. I for one would like to see a Firestorm / Glyn R Brown collab!
hornza:
Absolutely awesome, great arrangement and fantastic use of the instruments.
mattie:
Very cinematic! When I listened to this I was reminded of Time Crisis or The Rock. Love it.
vili:
Reminds me The Rock, too. Combined with Batman Begins.
C64.COM:
Yeah, it's really THAT good!
Melaure:
Excellent
chabee:
Great!!!
nicodaemus:
It is a bit too much at the beginning but about half-way to the end I ended up loving it. Good for you and me as well, I guess. 😃
bosone:
Perfect for an hollywood movie!!! Absolutely great!!
Gothmog:
Woha! O_O RESPECT!!!
Blue Max:
I yet fucking good Commando like this I did not hear processing more! 6 minutes are brief pleasures!
alpi:
Awesome arrangement and brilliant-sounding, thumbs up *cheers
infamous:
Absolutely amazing tune, been waiting for a while for this to be put up here. Hans zimmer would cry if he heard this… Sheer tears of joy.
Amok:
I always wondered if Firestorm will release this absolutely awesome piece of art. He did. Definately Remix of the Year 2009!!!
mika:
This re-interpretation of commando's SID is very original and quite a rollercoaster ride. I just promoted it to my shortlist of favorite C64 remixes
schlicky:
Just friggin awesome!
sumppi:
He's a professional and you can hear it. Great stuff, even if the faster parts don't always really fit in IMHO.
madfiddler:
Simply awesome! WELL DONE!
vassago:
Omg! Was so stunned I forgot to vote!
chilli_uk:
F*** Some samples are dodgy but this has never been dont before and jesus holy mother of god - where did you get this from! AMAZING
Hex Madroom:
Brilliant! Another masterpiece from firestorm! We want more! 😃
_steve_:
Torn between orange and red… Red wins 😊 This tune is really fantastic.
condor:
Brilliant!
Xenox.AFL:
Excellent…!
Danceaway:
This track is worthy of taking the no. 1 spot from the excellent Rastan remix by Glen, Fantastic, I emailed the track to Rob Hubbard and he replied saying its great and one of the best, Congratz Firestorm…
Addicted_to_C64:
You won't find many remixes of this quality. This one is definitely the best remix I ever heard
slaygon:
It's not only good. It's not only awesome. It's Firestorm.
k_rostoen:
This calls for a lot of!!! 's and 111's. Brilliant stuff!!!1! 1 The beat after two and a half minutes is awesome.
vincenzo:
This. Is. Fu*cking. Brilliant. One of the bestestest remixes ever! Congrats, firestorm!
Engineroom:
Ten thousand internets for you, good sir. This is truly, wonderfully, fully epic.
Shark:
I say it’s a master piece reminded me of the metal gear sound tracks which I really like, please make a remix of cybernoid 2 like this pretty please with a cheery on top!.
drm:
Outstanding remix from a pro musician!
RemixFan:
WOW all one opinion this is able to do only Firestorm! Great Remix
Mayhem:
Back in time for Xmas again… Wasn't quite sure what to expect, but this certainly ranks as one of the best of 2009.
z80:
Best Remix I ve ever heard. *sigh*
Nico:
Amazing!
Maegnuz:
The perfect movie soundtrack, but not really worth listening to repeatedly and by itself. Nevertheless needs a full score!
pj:
You took me by surprise. Very powerful and original interpretation.
Mordi:
Heh. Ridiculously well done remix. _truly_ outstanding. Incredibly movie-like. One of the top-10 on the whole site for sure.
Ziphoid:
I don't know what to say. This is just pure perfection.
hazel:
I never thought we would have a contender to Glyn R Brown. But here he is. Extremely powerfull and enjoyable remix. It doesn't get any better than this.
Metal:
Hands down - this is the best remix for a very long time! Simply an amazing piece of work!!
Peter W:
Knockout!!!
pricer:
Fantastic, such an exciting six and a half minutes. Not seen an up beat classical arrangement of this quality since Mr G Brown.
drax:
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
Makke:
An obvious candidate for C64 Remix of the Year in my opinion. Absolutelly brilliant!
Ryrynz:
Done in a very epic movie like style, with obvious Unreal Tournament style instruments. Best remix of the year! What a treat!
LMan:
Superlatives-invoking, shockingly creative and inspiring masterpiece.
Blu:
Really powerful!!
Carruthers43:
Epic
vurtx:
Its brilliant stuff but a lot of the commando melody is missing and its also a touch too fast.
prowler:
Not really my cup of tea - but very good work indeed so an orange face it is!
Satanarchist:
Eftos the sid and drums killer talking about Firestorm being clueless… Eftos remixes are so bad they get deleted from RKO!
DJBase:
Very nice Remix!
romeo_knight:
This is truly amazing and one of the best orchestral remixes here ever but I can't give a red one because there is missing too much of the original Commando track. Less cinematic FX and more melody would have made it.
datucker:
Great tune!
aricz:
Technically outstanding. You loved 'The Rock' too huh?
omoroca:
I hate artificial orchestras. Although I must admit, this one's the best I've heard so far. Reminds me of The Matrix.
CharlieC:
Slowing down the tempo just a notch, this would be so much better. Too stressfull.
schallmauer:
Great Effort… But artificial orchestra just sounds artificial. And its way too long
Windshield_CB:
I can't fault the technical execution one bit, but does have a tendency to veer into Trans-Siberian Movie Trailer Orchestra territory a bit too often for its own good.
SarahKreuz:
Good track. Doesn`t kick me like all the other listeners - but I guess that`s just me.
Gregory Atlas:
To much orchestra and not really giving a feeling back to the old sid.
