STIL commentVery interesting story here. Katakis was released in September 1988 by Rainbow Arts, however it never got a release in the UK as Activision had it cancelled because of similarities to R-Type, to which Activision had bought the conversion rights. Activision were getting nowhere with their conversion of R-Type and they liked what they saw of Katakis, so they hired the same programming team (Manfred Trenz and others) to do the C64 conversion. They only got 6 weeks to write the conversion, and sadly, it shows. Katakis was eventually altered and released as Denaris in 1989. Tunes #2 to #14 all cover of the arcade game.

Dan:
This is really a weet ass disco bopper!
c64glen:
Big
lefrog:
Nice arrangement. A little to much hithat and less base, but over all nice R. Type tune.
eliot:
Very nice. Some flaws with the techno-drums… (they do not really fit).
Makke:
Bit muddy at times, but quite enjoyable anyway!
Waz:
Nice and Industrial sounding, plenty of big beats. Not sure about the use of the SID mixed in with it, but still nice.
LMan:
A very agressive but enjoyable take on the R-Type title tune. Thumbs up, but still not the R-Type I'm waiting for.😉
montymole:
In my opinion one of the best R-Type Mixes
M.A.F:
Bristling with energy and SID's popped in for a glass of fizzy Lemonade… Gulp gulp arhh thats better… Sorry was being pretentious again… Very good.
hbasm:
At first glance I thought it was another typical dance-tune (they have begun to sound all alike to me) but this one stands out. Nice drum-work!
Tas:
Good effort. Feels right, sounds slightly muddy at times tho.
omoroca:
Close to the original, but as I like the original, I like this one, too. Those break dance drums rock!
ifadeo:
Nice remix, but somehow a bit cheesy…
beldin:
There is a fizzing buzzing noise on almost all sounds, which drags down the quality and takes away some of the listening fun!
infamous:
Nice drumbeat… And decent stylings… But it just lacks that punch this tune seems to promise.
anaconda:
A bit heavy on the base. A bit messy, but the original isn't much different.
romeo_knight:
Lacks dynamics and emotion. There's simply nothing in it that makes you listen to it a second time, sorry.
