STIL commentVery interesting story here. Katakis was released in September 1988 by Rainbow Arts, however it never got a release in the UK as Activision had it cancelled because of similarities to R-Type, to which Activision had bought the conversion rights. Activision were getting nowhere with their conversion of R-Type and they liked what they saw of Katakis, so they hired the same programming team (Manfred Trenz and others) to do the C64 conversion. They only got 6 weeks to write the conversion, and sadly, it shows. Katakis was eventually altered and released as Denaris in 1989. Tunes #2 to #14 all cover of the arcade game.

Sounds very SID, and I do find it's very good - and unlike Sarah, I find the Gameboy beep a very nice reminder to the videogame pedigree of this tune, even though it's another system.
pie vs pie:
Better drums would have scored it higher for me as it stands it nice and smooth
nummer2:
Not bad but when I hear that super mario gold coin sound I want to purge my stomach
LaLa:
Putting the original SID drums into this remix: no-no. Making the arrangement a bit more mellow than the original: hmm, not bad, but more variation would've been welcome. It's a bit flat and uninspiring.
Boz:
It's got a nice different feel about it than other mixes of R-Type. Takes a little while to get into it, but it's got something to it that makes you want to listen again.
Xenox.AFL:
Please, do a new version with better drums.😊
SarahKreuz:
This doesn`t work very well. (annoying Gameboy beep in a C64 Remix?) R-Type Fanboys should download anyways and give this one a try.
